Diamond Head Extension Development Program
KYA’s plan for the Diamond Head Extension delivers on HNL vision for the future.
The DHEDP is approximately a $1.1 billion dollar program working with stakeholders including the DOT-A, transportation Security Administration, US Custom and Border Protection, US Department of Agriculture, Concessionaires, and Airlines. Scope of work includes developing performance planning standards and spatial standards and concept planning for terminal elements such as check-in lobby, agricultural inspection stations, security screening checkpoint, checked baggage screening system, concourse holdroom seating area, concourse circulation, concession space, restrooms, federal inspection services facility, airline lounges, airline operation and support spaces, passenger amenities, tenant and building support spaces. KYA served as the Terminal Planner for this project.
One of the biggest challenge was to coordinate stakeholders during the COVID-19 pandemic, KYA learned how to best get information from all stakeholders through a series of smaller, more intimate workshop in addition to the larger group presentation. KYA successfully gather inputs from all stakeholders and communicated the information to DOT-A.
