Kamehameha Schools' Kahaluu Ma Kai
Honoring the Past for a Better Tomorrow
This Kamehameha School's educational facility is the first of it kind; the site designs reflect the rich history and culture of the land it will rest on. It will accommodate preschool through higher education students for day visits and overnight stays.
The project includes a Heritage Center to greet visitors and guests, a multipurpose building with flexible learning spaces and a halau, an open structure outfitted with technology and access to open lawns for indoor and outdoor learning spaces. The site will include green design features and use whatever it can from the existing structure of Keahou Beach Resort; it will incorporate existing trees, reuse the resort's basement for parking and aim for water net zero use.
