KOA USDA Facility
Focusing on the “journey of the bag” a high-performance solution that prioritizes efficiency and capacity.
SCOPE OF WORK
This project continues the ticket lobby renovation previously completed under the HNL Explosive Detection System (EDS) Phase II project. The scope includes finishing Terminal 2 Ticket Lobbies 4, 5, and 6, with enhancements in ventilation, baggage handling, and facade and canopy upgrades. KYA is collaborating closely with stakeholders such as DOT-A, TSA, USDA, and the airlines to address all concerns.
Additionally, the project involves replacing the outbound baggage screening system at Terminal 1, integrating USDA’s agricultural screening with the baggage handling system. KYA, in partnership with DOT-A, has work with federal agencies including USDA and TSA to find a solution that meets both agencies’ screening requirements. This integration aims to streamline the check-in process and enhance the travel experience for passengers.
HIGHLIGHTS
Along with DOT-A, KYA led coordination between USDA and TSA to help make agricultural in-line screening a reality at HNL. Kyle Wang and Richard Wong, who both led the design and coordination efforts, will both be a part of the proposed staff for the Outbound Baggage Handling System Replacement project.
