2019 Spring FOD Walk

The Daniel K. Inouye International Airport is now a safer and fresher looking facility. Nearly 200 volunteers, including airline representatives, consultants, contractors and others who value safety, helped rid the airport of potentially dangerous debris.

Airport operations constantly generate debris that – if left uncollected – pose a safety hazard. Globally FOD (foreign object debris) costs the industry $13 billion annually through flight delays, added maintenance and fuel efficiency losses.

The KYA Sustainability Group event coordination team worked tirelessly to inspire, educate and deploy airport employees to participate in the 2019 Spring FOD Walk. As the coordinator
of the event, KYA's Sustainability Group helps keep the airport safe for passengers and the airport professionals who serve them. We look forward to the next FOD Walk scheduled for October!
