UH West Oahu Sustainability Focused Tour by USGBC HI

New building tour shared lessons learned by
design team



Members of USGBC HI, AIA Honolulu, Hawaii Energy CEA’s and the general public were treated to a 1.5 hour presentation and tour of a new green building in West Oahu. A sellout crowd was eager to hear the design team share their goals, thought process and outcomes. Highlights included targeting LEED Gold from the beginning of design, simple grey-water capture and reuse systems, and healthy indoor spaces. Architects, engineers, landscape architects, planners, facility managers, vendors, teachers, students and government workers enjoyed the behind the scenes look and narration from talented speakers. The event celebrated a green building win in Hawaii while also emphasizing minimal cost additions necessary to achieve desired outcomes. KYA was grateful to share our lessons learned from the design perspective and hope this helps move green building forward in Hawaii.
